Senior Chef (Daytime only - Sociable hours)

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Chef with a passion for food to join the team at our award-winning restaurant The Walled Garden at Knights Garden Centre.

The Walled Garden is a 130-cover restaurant. The Kitchen uses fresh local produce, all cuisine is prepared daily, and menus change according to the season.

Responsibilities include:

• Managing all aspects of the kitchen operations
• Oversee food preparation and ensure all dishes are prepared to the highest standard
• Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new menu items and specials
• Maintain food safety and kitchen sanitation in accordance with COSHH and food hygiene standards
• Monitor inventory levels and order supplies, ensure stock is labelled and stored correctly
• Supervise and train kitchen staff, providing guidance and support as needed
• Ensure that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and in good working condition

The successful applicant will have a passion for cooking with an experienced knowledge of taste and flavours. You should be creative and innovative, have strong decision-making skills and be able to motivate and inspire. To be economically successful, you should have a clear business knowledge and understanding of the industry.

Skills and Experience Required:

• Experience working in a fast-paced restaurant environment (2 years minimum)
• Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking techniques, and plating presentations
• Excellent hospitality and customer service skills to provide a positive dining experience
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
• Leadership abilities to effectively supervise and motivate a team
• Proficient in food production techniques and culinary skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks effectively

Pay: £29,120 - £31,200 dependent on experience
