About the Role

To enable delivery of the organisational strategy for 2023-2026 and assist in contributing to the delivery of the national Digital Health and Care Strategy and Data Strategy, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Architect to lead our data architecture, overseeing best practices and supporting technical delivery for stakeholders.

This post is responsible for leading data architecture across the organisation, ensuring that best practice approaches, processes, and solutions are utilised to serve the operational and strategic needs of the organisation and its stakeholders. The post holder will ensure that data systems are secure, efficient, and aligned with strategic goals, particularly enabling the organisation to be an intelligence-led entity. You will play a crucial role in delivering the strategic objectives of the organisation, the Digital Health and Care Strategy, and the Data Strategy, taking a lead role, along with key partners, in data architecture for the public sector.

Main Duties:

  • Provide technical leadership and direction across a range of domains, establishing and maintaining data architecture best practices and culture across a range of agile delivery teams, both through analysis and improvement of existing architecture and for future solutions.
  • Ability to translate strategic aims and outcomes to local delivery plans, ensuring effective and efficient use of resources.
  • Collaborating and problem-solving with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure maximum value delivery and alignment of data architecture with business objectives.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of data architecture, data models, and data flow diagrams, including meta data, data lineage, data dictionaries, and a catalogue of data utilised by the organisation for easy understanding and future reference.
  • Ability to facilitate negotiations with a wide range of individuals within educational and health care institutions, government bodies, social care, and beyond, to ensure the delivery of initiatives at the highest possible standards and in line with organisational and governmental aims.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Demonstrable track record of delivering data architecture solutions and processes for the achievement of tangible benefits and outcomes.
  • Reputable experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders to provide specialist and well-evidenced data architecture expertise, analysis, and direction.
  • Experienced in designing solutions and services with a high level of ingrained security and adherence to GDPR and other data-related regulations.
  • Highly experienced in analysing requests for data architecture services, assessing and communicating technical viability in line with existing or potential solutions and capabilities.
  • Proven experience in the development and implementation of standards and best practices to enable best-of-breed data architecture services, including continuous improvement with data-related teams and processes.
  • Commitment to own personal and professional development, and for others within the organisation in relation to data architecture principles and approaches.
