Are you a commercially sharp, hands-on construction buyer who knows how to lead a team while still rolling up your sleeves?
Do you thrive on negotiation, supplier management, and ensuring every project gets the best materials at the best price?
Our client is a long-established, highly profitable construction company working across domestic, commercial, and industrial sectors. With a 20m annual spend, they're looking for a Head Buyer who can lead from the front, drive performance, and elevate procurement standards.
What You'll Do
- Lead and mentor a small buying team
- Manage 20m spend across multi-site projects
- Negotiate with suppliers on a project-by-project basis
- Work closely with Site Agents & Quantity Surveyors
- Ensure best pricing, availability, and lead times on every product
- Maintain accurate supplier data and stock visibility
- Implement purchasing best practice and new processes
- Continue buying yourself while directing the wider team
About You
- Strong construction procurement background
- Experienced team leader who leads by example
- Excellent negotiator and commercially driven
- Skilled with suppliers, QS teams, and operational colleagues
- Confident managing high spend and multiple projects simultaneously
- Organised, proactive, and results-oriented
