Role Summary:The Financial Controller will lead financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and insightful analysis to support business decision-making. This role plays a key part in delivering financial goals, driving change, improving systems and processes, and driving sustainable growth.Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee month-end processes including accruals, prepayments, payroll provisions, deferred income, intercompany balances, and tax provisions.
  • Prepare timely, accurate financial reports and forecasts tailored for non-financial stakeholders; support managers in understanding key financial metrics.
  • Manage inventory controls, including cycle counting variances, stock aging, and WIP valuation.
  • Analyse departmental timesheet data and maintain accurate work order records.
  • Support product costing and analysis of non-production material costs.
  • Monitor and manage miscellaneous expenses, invoice approvals, and correct cost attribution to projects and R&D.
  • Review AR/AP processes to ensure compliance and flag concerns to the Finance Director.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant legislation, accounting standards, and regulatory compliance, both domestic and international.
  • Collaborate with auditors to meet statutory reporting requirements.
  • Drive improvements in operational efficiency, cost control, and working capital management.
  • Provide detailed financial analysis across income, costs, and production to evaluate profitability and risk by channel.
  • Guide stakeholders with clear, data-driven insights to aid performance tracking and strategic planning. 
Experience:
  • Background from practice or from organisations producing physical products; SME or growth-focused environments.
  • Proficiency in financial systems.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to present complex financial data to non-financial audiences.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general IT systems.
  • Strong organisational, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Commercially astute with attention to detail and an analytical mindset.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure.
