A highly inclusive and supportive primary school in Islington is looking to appoint a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025. This role will involve providing 1:1 support for a child in KS2 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), helping them access learning, develop social communication skills, and manage behaviour positively within a nurturing environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about special educational needs, whether you have school-based experience, a background in youth work, social care, or are keen to develop within a SEND support role.
The successful candidate will:
Provide 1:1, consistent, and proactive support for a KS2 child with autism
Assist with classwork, communication strategies, and behaviour regulation
Help deliver targeted interventions for both social and academic development
Collaborate closely with the school's SENCO, teaching staff, and outside professionals
Play a key role in creating an inclusive, positive learning environment
Essential Requirements:
Experience supporting children with additional needs or a strong willingness to learn
Team Teach training is desirable (or willingness to train)
A calm, patient, and resilient approach, with confident behaviour management skills
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
Background in youth work, support work, or social care highly beneficial
Available for a full-time, term-time position starting September 2025
