We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join a major SCL tunnelling scheme in Kent. This is a long-term freelance opportunity on a technically demanding project, offered on an Outside IR35 basis for an 18-month duration.
Key Responsibilities

Setting out and engineering control for SCL tunnelling works

Managing and supporting site engineers and junior staff

Producing and reviewing RAMS, ITPs, and method statements

Raising and managing RFIs, technical queries, and design clarifications
-
Ensuring works are carried out in accordance with design, specifications, and programme

Liaising with the Site Agent, Project Manager, client, and design team
-
Coordinating with subcontractors and monitoring quality of works
-
Maintaining accurate site records, as-built information, and daily diaries
-
Supporting progress reporting and short-term planning
-
Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
Requirements

Proven experience as a Senior Engineer on tunnelling or major civil engineering projects

Strong understanding of SCL tunnelling methodologies and or trenchless work.

Competent with surveying equipment and engineering software
-
Ability to lead engineers and manage technical aspects of the works

Strong communication and problem-solving skills
-
CSCS (Gold or Black), SMSTS or SSSTS preferred
-
Temporary Works Coordinator or Supervisor experience desirable
