MRD Recruitment is working on behalf of our leading Logistics client, who are recruiting an Operations Manager, based in Greenock. The Operations Manager, based in Greenock, will report to the General Manager. Operating on a 5/7 shift pattern, this role will require occasional weekend work.

The successful Operations Manager candidate, based in Greenock will lead the delivery of Operational requirements, in line with Customer, Health, Safety, Security, Environmental, and Quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities for the Operations Manager, based in Greenock:

  • To deliver consistent operational excellence
  • To manage the day to day operations of the Operational Teams in the Operational Areas as a visible and involved presence
  • To ensure that the activities of the Operations Department are consistent with policies
  • To ensure available resources are managed to meet customer requirements/SLA's/KPIs as efficiently as possible
  • To develop and maintain excellent working relationships with customers by resolving Operational issues satisfactorily
  • Through interventions, ensure that revenue and costs are optimised and consistent with achieving expected levels of business performance
  • To ensure that controls are in place for the complete and accurate billing and collection of revenue
  • To assist in developing robust operations analysis along with the GM for use in evaluating the business unit performance
  • Supporting the development of Action Plans that are developed from this analysis and their implementation
  • Anticipating future needs and making strategic plans to ensure resources and personnel are prepared for upcoming tasks.
  • To lead and manage the Operational Team of Supervisors and Operatives by building excellent working relationships along with excellent communication skills
  • To support your team in handling employee-related inquiries and concerns across all People related items such as Payroll, working hours, absence, Occupational Health
  • Be the escalation point for employees to raise inquiries to as required
  • Ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures by you, your supervisors and the rest of the operational team
  • Ensuring accurate and timely provision of information to HR in relation to your team and your team members e.g. Working Hours
  • To carry out individual performance reviews for your team to identify areas of development as well as manage performance and capability issues
  • To arrange and facilitate further training and development as needed, working with our Learning and Development Team
  • To deliver consistent safety excellence
  • To ensure the safe working environment of the Operations team
  • Monitor and control all legal and statutory requirements in relation to operation
  • To be responsible for the Safety Behaviours of the Operations Team and visitors to operational areas
  • To lead by example through carrying out behavioural safety tours, attending shift briefings, conduct tool box talks, task inspections
  • To celebrate safe working behaviours and to correct unsafe behaviours
  • Conducting thorough risk assessments and associated control measures to reduce risk to an acceptable level before Operations commence.

Key Skills & Qualifications for the Operations Manager, based in Greenock:

  • Relevant Operational work experience that relates to the requirements of the role
  • IOSH managing safely
  • UK driving licence
  • Experience in delivering improved H&S compliance and risk mitigation through SMART objectives
  • Experience in delivering improved productivity and financial performance improvements through smarter ways of working or operational solutions
