JOB: Cold Store Supervisor (Nights)

LOCATION: Grimsby

STATUS: Permanent

HOURS: Sunday to Thursday 10.00pm to 6.00am

SALARY: £19.20 per hour (40 hour week)

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

FLT/MHE standard operating licenses

Must be PC literate and able to demonstrate good numeracy skills Experience of in house Warehouse Management systems Experience of supervising warehouse operatives

Good at problem solving

Food industry experience preferable

Summary

To assist in the day to day running of the cold stores with the ultimate aim of providing a service to our customers to ensure their products are handled in a safe and effective manner with the minimum of delay to ensure an efficient cold chain at all times.

Must work within all written procedures, handbook, and Company policies and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and work alongside cold store staff, ensuring that all staff under your remit are inducted, trained and monitored in safe working practices
  • Supervise and work alongside staff on your shift to pick, pack and scan orders with the goal to increase efficiency, profitability and customer satisfaction.
  • Managing cold store activities to meet customers requirements by receiving customer goods, checking these against all supporting documents, efficient storage and custody of customer goods and the release of goods against properly authorised documentation.
  • Ensuring that the Company policies regarding Quality, Environment, Health & Safety etc are maintained at all times, including all standards and procedures required by accrediting bodies i.e. BRC, DQMP. Etc
  • Loading/unloading stick and supervising staff to do the same, including checking the stock is correctly prepared, damages/shortages are highlighted prior to loading/unloading and product is treated correctly at all times.
  • Partaking in physical stock takes as requested
  • Provide cover when Cold Store Manager is on holiday, sick, absent from work
  • Controlling the disposal of damaged or out of date stock following consultation with the Cold Store Manager/relevant manager
  • Ensure that you continuously monitor and develop you own skills to meet requirements of the role
  • Identify you own development needs and take action to address these
  • Manage your own time and resources to meet objectives
  • Delegate work to others to make effective use of time and resources
  • Develop productive working relationships by taking time to gain the trust and support of colleagues and team members
  • Minimise conflict within teams
  • Provide guidance to others on expected ways of working and behaviour
  • Cooperating with divisional/functional managers in all matters relating t5o the exercise of their function that concern the local operation
  • Select staff for efficient running of cold store, establish the need for additional/replacement staff and report to general manager
  • Determine the work to be completed by teams and individuals on a daily basis, direct and control all labour and staff within cold store under your remit, and allocate the work within the teams to ensure an efficient operation at all times
  • Deal with poor performance of team members by counselling staff as needed, identify reasons for poor performance where appropriate, agree actions with Cold Store Manager to correct performance, and conduct disciplinary processes in consultation with Cold Store Manager.
  • Assist the completion of internal/external audits as required, carry out any follow up actions as requested
  • Assist Cold Store Manager in team meetings, ensuring staff have forums to make suggestions and discuss any issues, assist in any management meeting as required, and ensure any actions allocated are followed through.
  • Act as Fire Warden as required for your shift, following completion of approved and provided training to ensure that fire, evacuation and other emergency procedures are disseminated, understood and followed by staff.
