We’re looking for a dedicated and experienced Senior Health & Safety Advisor to take ownership of our safety strategy and drive continuous improvement across all levels of the organisation.

Location: Agile, Grimsby/ Boston

Salary: £45,492.50

Contract: Permanent

What could a typical week look like as our Senior Health & Safety Advisor?

Working at LHP offers variety, challenge and the chance to make a real difference - but it’s not always easy, you’ll have a fantastic team around you as support and to celebrate your team success.

A typical week could look like:

  • Act as the technical health and safety lead for Repairs & Property Services, providing advice on legislation, safe systems of work and risk controls.
  • Develop, review and assure permits to work, risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) for high-risk activities including work at height, asbestos, electrical works, confined spaces and use of vibrating tools.
  • Lead on incident investigations within Repairs & Property Services, ensuring root causes are identified, actions tracked, and lessons learned are understood, adopted and embedded and shared.
  • Support delivery of audit recommendations including improvements to risk assessment quality, fire and first aid arrangements, and consultation with colleagues.
  • Coach managers, supervisors and operatives to improve safety culture, competence and compliance.
  • Provide assurance to leadership through monitoring, inspection and reporting, highlighting risks and making practical recommendations.
  • Support CDM compliance for planned and responsive works, liaising with contractors, project managers and compliance colleagues.
  • Ensure emergency procedures for fire and first aid are robust, site-specific and tested in practice.
  • Champion consultation and engagement with staff, ensuring operational voices are included in policies, procedures and risk controls.
  • Keep up to date with the latest changes in safety legislation to ensure a compliant and safe working environment for LHP colleagues.

What Skills, Abilities, Knowledge and Experience will I need as a Senior Health & Safety Advisor ?

  • Membership of IOSH or similar professional body (minimum CertIOSH).
  • Experience in providing health and safety support to repairs, maintenance, construction or property functions.
  • Track record of developing risk assessments, toolbox talks, delivering training/briefings, and leading investigations.
  • Knowledge of CDM 2015, building safety, and landlord compliance responsibilities.
  • Experience of working with contractors and assuring compliance in supply chains.
  • Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle for business use.
