Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading energy power company in UK and Ireland to recruit a Lead Electrical Project Engineer to work across their fleet in their central engineering team

Responsibilities and duties of the Lead Electrical Project Engineer role

Reporting to Head of Engineering you will:

  • Lead the development and execution of large-scale capital projects, including CCGT Lifetime Extension and new build initiatives.
  • Provide specialist electrical engineering expertise, including HV and transmission systems, ensuring design compliance and technical integrity.
  • Prepare, review, and approve electrical design documentation, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Oversee the commissioning, installation, and testing of electrical systems, ensuring alignment with safety and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to evaluate tenders, technical submissions, and ensure successful project delivery.
  • Support ongoing plant operations with engineering solutions that enhance reliability, availability, and efficiency.
  • Lead root cause analyses (RCA) and implement lessons learned across the project portfolio.
  • Drive improvements in plant safety, performance, and compliance through technical innovation and strategic planning.
  • Manage external contractors and service providers, including scope definition, selection, and performance monitoring.
  • Actively contribute to the management of change (MoC), risk assessments, quality assurance, and reporting processes.


Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng/IEng) or working towards professional registration.
  • Significant experience in electrical engineering within power generation, ideally with CCGT technology.
  • Proven track record of delivering engineering solutions in a project and operations environment.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, environmental, and legislative compliance requirements.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
