The Lead Nurse is responsible for overseeing clinical care within the inpatient detox facility, ensuring residents receive safe, high-quality support. They provide day-to-day clinical leadership to nursing and support staff and act as operational lead when the Centre Manager is absent. The role includes managing caseloads, completing assessments and care plans, responding to medical emergencies, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring all practice meets NMC, CQC, and company standards. The Lead Nurse oversees medication management, clinical audits, and the 24/7 on-call rota while working closely with GPs, treatment agencies, and other professionals to support effective recovery plans. They also assist with staff recruitment, supervision, and ongoing development, helping maintain a safe and supportive environment for residents.

The postholder must be an NMC-registered nurse (RMN, RGN, or equivalent) with experience in substance misuse services, clinical assessment, caseload management, and working within evidence-based guidelines. Strong communication skills, professionalism, integrity, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential.
