Key Accountabilities:

As an Investigating Officer, you will:


Plan and Execute Investigations: Identify and plan your investigative actions, ensuring that all lines of inquiry are pursued effectively.
Gather Evidence: Collect material, intelligence, and evidence from various sources, ensuring it's evidentially admissible.
Conduct Interviews: Interview victims and witnesses using appropriate techniques to gather critical information and produce concise statements.
Assess Risks: Complete risk assessments and establish safeguarding plans to support the well-being of those involved in investigations.
Analyse Evidence: Assess and analyse evidence to identify offenders and progress investigations, especially in high-frequency and priority crimes.
Ensure Compliance: Maintain the integrity of all material seized in accordance with legislation and policies.
Manage Safeguarding Cases: Respond to safeguarding concerns related to vulnerable individuals, ensuring their protection and welfare.
Uphold Victim's Code: Provide high-quality contact with victims and witnesses in line with the Victim's Code of 2021.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:


Education: Minimum GCSE level Maths and English or equivalent experience. PIP 1 Qualification
Investigative Experience: Proven experience in investigations with a solid understanding of criminal law and the justice system.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills with the ability to empathise and adapt language to meet diverse needs.
Analytical Mindset: Methodical and analytical approach to work with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Tech-Savvy: Proficient in computer database systems or willing to learn.
Self-Driven: Ability to work independently, taking responsibility for your investigative actions.
Driving licence: A full UK driving licence is essential for this role.
