Legal Counsel – Allianz Tech

 Position Summary

As part of Allianz Technology SE´s Legal Department, you advise our business in UK & Ireland in all legal areas (except tax law and labour law). You provide business oriented legal advice to safeguard the interests of the company, to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations and to support and guide the senior management on legal matters.

You will represent Allianz Technology Legal in UK & Ireland towards external partners and government authorities and will steer external law firms wherever needed. In your role you will be integrated into the Legal Region 2 team of Allianz Technology which consists of lawyers across several jurisdictions. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide business-oriented legal advice to all levels of management and staff
  • Monitor, research and address legal issues within the company / branch
  • Draft and review contracts, agreements and corporate documents (e.g. rules of procedure), corporate resolutions and accompanying legal documentation).
  • Ensure implementation of internal policies
  • Raise awareness of, and develop risk mitigation measures
  • Work with the global Allianz Technology Legal community in developing and enhancing practices and procedures
  • Work in cross-functional teams as required and in line with evolving business needs and the regulatory environment.
  • Conduct trainings
  • Closely follow legislative processes both on a national and international level and help to identify necessary steps for their implementation at Allianz Technology SE.
  • Oversee and steer external legal counsel, where applicable. 

Skills & Requirements

  • A strong academic background with a preference for candidates holding a degree of 2:1 or above and admitted to practise law in England and Wales (preferably also in Ireland)
  • 5+ years’ experience working as an in-house attorney in an international company or as an attorney in an international law firm with a focus on commercial law; knowledge of IT law and the associated supervisory law in insurance companies is an advantage.
  • a good understanding of the business environment and are eager to work in an international environment.
  • the ability to work well in a team and have excellent communication skills.
  • an entrepreneurial spirit and are well-organized
  • strong negotiation skills and follow an analytical approach
  • the ability to work independently and be a trustful advisor to the local management  
  • a keen attention to details
