Astute's Renewables team is partnering with a leading producer of biogas in the UK, to recruit a Process Engineer for its Guildford site.

The strategically important Process Engineer comes with a salary of up to 35,000, a pension and a private healthcare.

Responsibilities and duties of the Process Engineer role

Reporting to the Head of Bioprocess you will:

  • Analyse complex datasets to uncover trends, diagnose issues, and support optimisation of the anaerobic digestion (AD) process.
  • Apply deep technical knowledge of AD biology, systems, and maintenance to solve operational challenges and improve performance.
  • Lead and contribute to process improvement projects, collaborating with engineering and operations teams and participating in plant workshops.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership, ensuring clear communication of technical insights and proposed solutions.
  • Develop and maintain robust data management systems to automate data collection, with a focus on biogas production and export metrics.
  • Train and support internal users in data system use, ensuring high data accuracy and effective analysis across the organisation.
  • Travelling to plants around the UK
  • Other duties as required


Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • A master's degree in process or chemical engineering (or similar)
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience working with large data sets and using the results to make decisions or improvements
  • Strong understanding of subjects like chemistry, biology, maths, thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, mechanics, and control systems
  • Confident using computers and digital tools
  • Great at analysing data, creating reports, and sharing findings clearly
  • Well-organized, with the ability to manage and prioritise a busy workload
  • This role requires a Full UK driver's license
  • The client does not currently have the ability to hire candidates that require sponsorship
