You’ll be responsible for preparing monthly accounts, managing VAT and bank reconciliations, overseeing ledgers, and supporting cash flow and budget monitoring.
We're looking for someone with AAT Level 4, ACCA/CIMA part-qualification, or relevant experience, along with solid Sage 50 and Excel skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly management accounts across multiple group entities
- Support all aspects of month-end processes: journals, accruals, and prepayments
- Conduct VAT returns and bank reconciliations
- Oversee purchase and sales ledger activities, including payment runs and invoice matching
- Collaborate with project managers and department heads for effective budget tracking
- Maintain and forecast cash flow
- Reconcile credit cards and supplier statements
- Provide payroll cover and assist with audit preparation
- Identify system and process improvements to strengthen financial controls
- Report directly to the Finance Director and Managing Director, with potential oversight of junior staff
Key Skills & Experience:
- AAT Level 4 or Part-qualified or qualified (ACCA/CIMA) or qualified by experience
- Proficient in Sage 50 and Excel
- Experience in construction, engineering, or a similar project-based environment preferred
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Proactive, organised, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
- Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise across departments
Additional:
- Location: Guisborough, North Yorkshire
- Salary: £35,000 - £45,000, dependent upon experience
- Job Type: Full-time (40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a 30-minute lunch break)
- Working Hours: Flexible start and finish times available (e.g., 8:30am-5:00pm or 9:00am-5:30pm)
- Part-Time: Some flexibility available for part-time hours, subject to discussion
- Holidays: 25 days annual leave plus statutory bank holidays
