A well-established engineering and fabrication company based in Guisborough is seeking a talented and motivated Graduate Design Engineer to join their growing design team. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your engineering career in a forward-thinking and supportive environment, working on a diverse range of bespoke projects across multiple industries including oil & gas, energy, and heavy engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the design and development of steel fabrications, pressure vessels, structural assemblies, and complex mechanical components.
  • Produce detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and engineering drawings using industry-standard software (AutoCAD, Inventor, or SolidWorks).
  • Assist in the preparation of technical documentation, BOMs, and project specifications.
  • Liaise with project managers, workshop staff, suppliers, and clients to ensure designs meet requirements and standards.
  • Conduct design reviews, support design validation and verification, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and internal quality procedures.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related discipline (2:2 or above).
  • Proficiency in CAD software (preferably Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow within the company.
  • An understanding of fabrication, welding, or pressure equipment design is advantageous but not essential.
