Site Manager: Edinburgh/ Central Belt:

Are you an experienced Site Manager looking for a new permanent opportunity on diverse civil engineering projects?

As a Site Manager, you will be instrumental in the successful delivery of our projects from inception through to completion, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Site Operations Management: Overseeing all site activities, ensuring work is carried out in accordance with project plans, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Implementing and enforcing strict health and safety protocols (HSE) on site, conducting regular site inductions, toolbox talks, and risk assessments to maintain a safe working environment. Ensuring all environmental policies are adhered to.
  • Team Leadership and Management: Supervising and managing site staff, including direct labour and subcontractors. Motivating the team to achieve project objectives and ensuring high levels of productivity.
  • Project Planning and Programming: Collaborating with project managers to develop and maintain detailed project programmes. Monitoring progress against the schedule and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Quality Control: Ensuring all works are carried out to the required quality standards, implementing quality assurance procedures, and managing any non-conformances.
  • Resource Management: Efficiently managing plant, labour, and materials on site to ensure optimal utilisation and minimise waste.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Liaising with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project progression and effective communication.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintaining accurate site records, including daily diaries, progress reports, and any incidents or variations.
  • Problem Solving: Proactively identifying and resolving any site-based issues or challenges that may arise.
  • Commercial Awareness: Assisting with the monitoring of project costs and identifying potential cost-saving opportunities where appropriate.

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager on civil engineering projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, techniques, and health and safety regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach.
  • Relevant industry qualifications (e.g., SMSTS, CSCS Black Card) are highly desirable.
