Workshop Manager

Halesowen, West Midlands

c40k-45k neg dep exp + generous incentives

Our Halesowen based client is a successful manufacturing operation that has been established for almost four decades and supplies an impressive range of clients with both one-off and high-volume solutions in all sectors of engineering and manufacturing, offering both CNC precision engineered products and general products for supply throughout the UK.

As a result of continued success and the approaching retirement of one of the original founders of the business, they are now seeking to recruit a dynamic and proactive Workshop Manager to effectively pick up the responsibilities of the outgoing Manager and continue the success and highly respected reputation of the business whilst developing product offerings in new sectors as well as maintaining the established and much-valued relationships with existing clients.

This is not a role for a workshop manager who wants to sit in an office and delegate - the established and friendly team are all hands-on on a daily basis and the successful workshop manager candidate will be involved with everything required in the daily running of a busy workshop, and will include (but not be limited to):

  • Sales - maximising results from existing customers as well as identifying and developing relationships with new clients that will benefit from the solutions available - ensuring new and existing business is both cost effective and profitable
  • Sourcing materials - identifying reliable and cost-effective suppliers and managing relationships to ensure production downtime is minimized
  • Business administration - checking manufacturing status via production cards and identifying and resolving any issues as they may arise
  • General activities in ensuring deadlines are met - from quality and inspection or test through to assisting with packaging or just tidying up!

With customers including major automotive manufacturers, automation and materials handling market leaders as well as medical and off-shore applications, they offer solutions in a comprehensive range of materials as required by the client, so a solid engineering and manufacturing background is essential for the position, as is the ability to read technical drawings and work well under pressure in a genuinely supportive environment, with experience of SAGE 50 proving distinctly advantageous.
