General Operative

We are seeking a flexible and proactive General Operative to join a successful and well established manufacturing business. As General Operative you will be providing hands-on support across stores, dispatch, and driving functions. This role has been created to strengthen their small, dedicated team during a period of short staffing and will suit someone who thrives in a varied, practical, and team-focused environment.

The successful candidate will be a “floater” within the team—adapting to workload demands and providing support wherever needed, from goods in to dispatch, while also assisting with general site upkeep and driving duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Goods Handling & Stores Support
• Assist with goods in, stores management, and dispatch operations.
• Move, load, and unload stock as required.
• Ensure accurate booking of stock movements and purchase orders using the MRP system (training provided).
• Driving & Transport
• Drive a 3.5-ton flatbed vehicle occasionally
• Carry out planned runs (half-day trips) as well as local collections.
• General Site & Housekeeping Duties
• Support the team with day-to-day upkeep tasks such as sweeping yards, emptying bins, and maintaining a tidy work environment.
• Provide ad hoc labour support as required to keep operations running smoothly.

Requirements

• Essential
• Valid FLT license (counterbalance essential; reach truck desirable but not required).
• Full UK driving license suitable for operating a 3.5-ton flatbed vehicle.
• Willingness and ability to undertake general labour and housekeeping duties.
• Basic computer literacy and ability to learn new systems.
