Job Description

SMD Technician- £28,000 - £30,000

Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, this role is to ensure the smooth day to day running of the SMD line(s) to meet production department's needs, achieving all quality standards and production targets. When agreed with the Operations Manager, this role may also be used as a resource to assist the R&D department.

Qualifications

Desirable

  • Minimum HNC/HND or degree in Electronic, Electrical or manufacturing related subject
  • IPC qualification

Acceptable

  • Minimum 5 years knowledge and experience gained in a similar role.
  • IPC understanding and awareness

Core skills and experience required

  • Demonstrable experience JUKI and/or Europlacer SMD programmable Pick and place machines
  • Evidence of analytical and problem solving
  • Excellent attention to detail with good organisation
  • Soldering skills with rework experience
  • Strong written and verbal English communication
  • Capable of working independently to a production schedule
  • Basic computer skills with a working knowledge of Google suite

Duties & Responsibilities (may include, but not limited to):

  • Adherence to Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental guidelines
  • Compliance with Company standards, policies and procedures
  • Operate Surface Mount Technology advanced placement machines. Change out feeders and identify components per work instructions. Troubleshoot and correct problems
  • Identify different electronic component types, including value and polarity
  • Use a microscope
  • Program, Debug, Setup, Operate and Maintain: Pick & Place equipment, Reflow Ovens, Screen Printers, Solder Paste Inspection equipment
  • Run and monitor AOI machine(s)
  • Produce first off samples
  • Kitting jobs to ensure availability as and when required
  • Collate SMD line(s) performance data
  • Maintenance of SMD machinery
  • Train and assess SMD operators within the area and all production staff's soldering skills
  • Building and testing R&D prototypes/samples
  • Generate any necessary documentation for new products
  • Assist QC department with quarantined and items for repair
  • Undertake such other duties as may be required within general scope of the job
