Senior Mental Health Support Worker (Days)
Location: Halifax, West Yorkshire
Hours: 38.5 hours per week
Salary: £27,727.70 per annum / £13.85 per hour + £15.35 per hour (overtime rate)

About the Role
P4 recruitment is working with a client who are Delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a compassionate and dedicated Senior Mental Health Support Worker to join our 10-bed rehabilitation service, based in Halifax. This residential service provides a vital step-down facility, supporting individuals as they transition towards more independent living.

You will work 12-hour shifts from 7:45am to 7:45pm on a two-week rolling rota:

  • Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday
  • Week 2: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

Our Client has 20 years experience and provides outstanding care and support across Lancashire and Yorkshire. They specialise in recovery-focused services for adults aged 18+ with mental health needs, learning disabilities, and rehabilitation requirements. Several of their services are rated OUTSTANDING by the CQC, and we are proud recipients of the Investors in People Gold award.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support Recovery Support Workers in delivering day-to-day care and promoting independence.
  • Provide personal care in accordance with high-quality, evidence-based standards.
  • Act as a role model and take responsibility for the service in the absence of management.
  • Mentor and support new staff members and contribute to ongoing training and supervision.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic and person-centred care.
  • Facilitate meaningful, recovery-focused activities aligned with residents individual goals.
  • Administer medication and maintain accurate, up-to-date care records in line with policies and legal standards.

Person specifications

Essential-

NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)

Understanding of working with individuals from diverse cultural, social, and ethnic backgrounds

Ability to provide non-judgemental, emotional, and practical support

Experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating support/treatment plans

Experience of working effectively within a team

Good standard of education, including English and Maths

  • Experience supporting individuals with mental health needs
  • A solid understanding of care planning and risk assessment
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • A commitment to person-centred support, recovery, and inclusion
  • Good understanding of CQC

Desirable-

NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Health and Social Care

Full UK driving licence

Experience supervising staff and co-ordinating support provision

Ability to influence staff practice through effective line management
