About the role

We are looking for a permanent SEMH Teacher to start this September at a specialist setting that supports secondary-aged students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The role involves teaching across the curriculum, planning lessons, managing behaviour, and working closely with support staff and external professionals.

What We're Looking For:

Essential Qualifications:

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).

What You'll Be Doing:

As an SEMH Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver engaging lessons tailored to small groups or individuals
  • Plan differentiated work to meet EHCP objectives and academic targets
  • Build strong relationships based on consistency and respect
  • Implement positive behaviour strategies with a trauma-informed approach
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and outside agencies
  • Track progress and write reports on academic and emotional development
  • Work collaboratively with TAs, therapists, and support staff
  • Participate in team meetings and safeguarding updates
  • Attend regular CPD to further develop SEN and SEMH knowledge
  • Record incidents accurately and follow safeguarding protocols
