Earthworks Construction Project Manager

Are you an experienced Earthworks Project Manager looking to join a leading specialist contractor with a national presence? We are seeking a dynamic and commercially astute Senior Project Manager to oversee multiple prestigious schemes across the UK. This is a fantastic opportunity to become an integral part of a well-established senior management team, delivering excellence in the Heavy Civils, Highways, Ports & Airports, large-scale Residential and Commercial developments, Landfill, and Quarrying sectors.

Our client is a respected name in specialist earthworks, operating as both a Principal Contractor and a Specialist Subcontractor on projects valued up to 5 million. This role offers significant autonomy and the chance to make a tangible impact on complex and varied schemes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assume senior management responsibility for the successful daily delivery of multiple earthworks projects (up to 5m each).
  • Act as the primary point of contact for client interface, ensuring strong relationships and project alignment.
  • Oversee and strategically manage all staff and heavy plant resources across multiple sites.
  • Drive commercial management, ensuring projects are delivered within budget and profitability targets are met.
  • Manage the appointment and performance of subcontractors.
  • Develop and implement detailed Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Provide oversight for all engineering requirements, ensuring technical compliance and quality.
  • Develop and manage project programmes to ensure timely delivery.
  • Champion Health & Safety management across all projects, fostering a culture of safety excellence.

About You:

  • A minimum of 5 years' demonstrable project management experience specifically within the Heavy Civils and Earthworks sector.
  • Ideally based in the South East of England, with a willingness and ability to travel nationally to project sites.
  • Possess a degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline OR hold significant trade qualifications coupled with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently and take ownership of project outcomes.
  • A strategic thinker with strong decision-making capabilities.
  • Verifiable references are essential.
  • Proficient in English.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Current First Aid Certification.
