Mechanical Fitter

First Achieve is delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Fitter on behalf of a leading engineering company specialising in the design, manufacture, and assembly of systems for advanced material processing. With over 60 years of expertise, our client provides both standard and custom-built solutions to meet specialised industry requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical assembly and testing, including:
    • Water Systems - Manifolds, pump skids, and interconnections using materials such as mild steel, stainless steel, and copper (brazing experience is advantageous).
    • Pneumatics - Running pneumatic lines from valves, devices, and air islands.
    • Vacuum Systems - Installation of pipelines (bolted connections) and components.
    • Inert Gas Systems - Running gas lines to various devices using stainless steel.
    • Other mechanical assembly tasks requiring precision and high-quality workmanship.
  • Fault finding on mechanical systems where necessary.
  • Inspection of component parts.
  • Vacuum and pressure testing of components and systems (training provided).
  • On-site repairs and installations at customer locations when required.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Time-served Mechanical Fitter with a meticulous and conscientious approach to work.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience with hydraulic circuits and basic welding would be an advantage.
  • Forklift and scissor lift licenses as well as confined space training would be beneficial.
  • A flexible and proactive attitude, with a willingness to develop skills in other areas.
