Reed Finance are pleased to be supporting a growing SME buisness who due to a recent acquisition, are seeking a interim Financial Controller for a period of initially 6 months to manage the finance function.

The role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, financial control, and management of outsourced payroll functions. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, operationally focused, and capable of developing processes within the finance function once fully integrated into the role.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Manage, support, and develop the small Finance Team.
  • Provide strong support to the management of the company and the Group CFO/Group COO.
  • Prepare timely and accurate management accounts each month, including associated book-keeping.
  • Responsible for all monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and balance sheet control.
  • Provide supporting financial information for monthly board reporting within set timescales.
  • Issue other financial reports as required and measure working capital, highlighting potential issues.
  • Analyse and interpret financial information.
  • Manage the payroll processes to ensure accurate and timely payments in a fast-changing environment.
  • Ensure robust financial control procedures are in place.
  • Investigate issues, solve problems, and implement improvements in processes while maintaining adequate documentation.
  • Responsible for implementing and developing processes within the Finance Function that dovetail with the Sage Intact implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with tax and accounting regulations.
  • Manage the annual audit and preparation of statutory accounts.
  • Manage the preparation of corporation tax computations.
  • As required, lend support to the implementation and development of a new finance system within the company.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified accountant or equivalent
  • Experience working in an SME business and in an entrepreneurial, flexible, fast-paced environment.
  • Proven track record of having implemented and developed financial processes within an SME.
  • Ambitious, energetic, with a pro-active approach.
  • Team-minded and flexible, able to manage and develop a small team of finance professionals.
  • Very good skills in the analysis and interpretation of numbers.
  • Confident and able to communicate effectively.
