Building Surveyor - Repairs

We are delighted to be supporting Harlow District Council to recruit a temporary Building Surveyor (Repairs) on a 6–12-month basis. Please note that this post requires the successful individual to be based on site 3-4 days per week.
The role:
We are looking for an experienced Repairs Building Surveyor to join our team. You will play a key role in diagnosing building defects, specifying repairs, and ensuring high-quality maintenance works across our property portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact on the safety, quality, and longevity of our homes.
- Conduct detailed inspections of properties to identify building defects and maintenance issues
- Diagnose root causes of disrepair and recommend appropriate solutions
- Prepare schedules of works, specifications, and cost estimates for repairs and maintenance projects
- Ensure compliance with building regulations, health & safety standards, and company policies
- Oversee contractors and suppliers to ensure works are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards
- Liaise with tenants, landlords, and internal teams to provide clear communication and updates on repair works
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, works, and costs, and prepare reports for management
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in building surveying, repairs, and maintenance within residential or commercial property sectors
- Strong knowledge of building construction, materials, and relevant legislation
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work under pressure
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., RICS, CIOB) desirable
