We are recruiting on behalf of a forward-thinking, growth-focused organisation for a dynamic Head of Sales to lead their commercial sales team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced sales professional with strong leadership skills to take ownership of sales performance, team development, and customer retention strategies within a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
Please note: This is a fully office-based role, located in Essex, and requires on-site presence 5 days a week.
As Head of Sales, you will play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth, motivating a high-performing team, and building long-term customer relationships. Reporting directly to the Sales Director, you'll be responsible for setting and executing strategic sales objectives, ensuring continuous team development, and delivering exceptional customer service standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, inspire, and manage a team to consistently achieve monthly sales targets
- Set clear goals, track team performance, and provide regular feedback and coaching
- Monitor individual and team KPIs, with a focus on increasing gross margin and reducing order errors
- Identify and capitalise on sales opportunities across the product portfolio
- Conduct regular 1-to-1s and training sessions to develop individual performance
- Oversee and improve call-back processes and customer engagement strategies
- Ensure clear documentation and proactive outreach for dormant or inactive accounts
- Maintain and enhance key client relationships through effective communication and support
- Regularly report on sales performance, wins, challenges, and improvements to senior management
- Implement new systems and processes to improve sales efficiency and team effectiveness
Skills & Experience
- A proven track record in B2B sales, ideally in a fast-paced or fuel/logistics-related sector
- Previous experience in a sales leadership or management role
- Strong team leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to motivate and engage staff
- Excellent communication, planning, and organisational abilities
- Commercial acumen with a focus on margin growth and customer retention
- Resilient, calm under pressure, and confident in handling performance conversations
- Willingness and ability to work on-site in Essex, 5 days a week
