GSL Education are working closely with a welcoming primary school in Harlow who are looking to appoint a caring and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with additional needs.

This is a full-time, long-term role, starting in January, offering the opportunity to become a valued and consistent presence in a child’s school life. The school has a strong focus on inclusion and works closely as a team to ensure every pupil is supported to succeed.

The Role:
  • Providing dedicated one-to-one support to a pupil with SEN, helping them access learning throughout the school day.

  • Supporting the child’s academic, social, and emotional development in line with individual learning plans.

  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement effective support strategies.

  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.

  • Supporting the child both in and out of the classroom, including during transitions and playtimes.

  • Monitoring progress and feeding back to staff to help shape ongoing support.

The Ideal Candidate:
  • Experience working with children with SEN in a school or similar setting (desirable but not essential for the right person).

  • A patient, calm, and nurturing approach.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.

  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.

  • Willingness to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff.

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
