Salary: £25,636 to £37,639 per annum + Attractive Benefits Package!

About the role – Print Assistant
As our Print Assistant you will support the lead printer with operating a flexographic print machine whilst ensuring your print operations are conducted in a safe and controlled manner.
You will work with the Printer to maximise press uptime in line with KPI’s, taking account of running speeds and opportunities to achieve operational efficiencies.
Additionally, you will be responsible for:
- Setting up and operating print machinery safely and efficiently, maintaining health, safety, hygiene, and housekeeping standards
- Working to site standards for BRC, ISO, and A2 environmental compliance
- Following lean manufacturing techniques, including SMED and 5S principles, and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintaining press consumables, including loading/unloading reels and inks
- Operating the press in the absence of the Lead Printer and during rest breaks
- Identifying and reporting non-conformities, supporting resolution as needed
- Assisting in training colleagues when required
- Contributing to smooth shift handovers and keep presses in good operational condition
- Assisting with cleaning and maintenance of print equipment
- Collaborating with colleagues (e.g., Ink Technicians, Mounters) to maintain production standards
- Providing flexibility by supporting other production areas, including operating Conversion/Slitting machinery
In order to be successful in this role you must have:
- Part or fully trained Printer, preferably with flexographic experience
- Relevant Print NVQ Level 2 or 3 an advantage
- Additional qualifications e.g. fire safety, first aid etc. an advantage but not essential
- Good level of literacy and numeracy, preferably GCSE level in English and Maths
- Previous print experience, preferably flexographic with experience of solvent based inks
- Background in manufacturing, either label or packaging printing
- Exposure to Lean Six Sigma or other continuous improvement techniques an advantage
- Considerable exposure to quality, health, safety and environmental standards and practices within a production setting
