About the Role

A well-established UK-based organisation with operations across multiple regions is seeking a reliable and detail-focused Assistant Accountant to join their finance team in Harrogate. Key Responsibilities

  • Support monthly management accounts preparation and reporting packs
  • Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts
  • Process journals including accruals, prepayments, and corrections
  • Maintain fixed asset registers and monitor depreciation
  • Assist with forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis
  • Compile and submit VAT returns
  • Liaise with internal departments and support external audits
  • Ensure financial processes are documented and compliant
  • Assist with continuous improvements to financial operations
  • Undertake ad-hoc financial duties as directed by management

Candidate Profile

  • AAT qualified or currently studying ACCA/CIMA (or equivalent)
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a finance or accounts role
  • Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals and some month end experience
  • Skilled in Microsoft Excel and familiar with accounting software (e.g. Sage, Oracle, or equivalent)
  • High level of accuracy and analytical thinking
  • Good time management and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working both independently and in collaboration with others
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
