Our highly reputable client in Harrow-on-the-Hill seeks a Finance Officer to join their friendly team.
The role:
The Finance Officer supports the Financial Controller in managing the finances by carrying out essential accounting tasks such as processing transactions and maintaining accurate financial records. This role ensures that all financial data is recorded correctly and reported on time, enabling effective decision-making and strategic planning.
Finance Officer - Duties & Responsibilities:
Sales Ledger:
- Preparation, Management and Submission of monthly and termly direct debit collections.
- Update direct debits and changes of bank details
- Administering deposit refunds
- Managing queries concerning fees, extras and fees in lieu invoices
- Inputting billing data onto billing software e.g. fees, extra charges, insurance, etc
Credit Control:
- Maintain Credit Control Excel file and regularly updated
- Follow up on unpaid fees and failed direct debits promptly
- Producing monthly debtor reports for the Financial Controller
- Reporting on a weekly basis to the Financial Controller the status of overdue accounts
Payroll:
- Assist with monthly payroll preparation and communication
- File payroll documentation and upload payslips
- Ensure timely payment of statutory deductions and salary transfers
- Administer the pension scheme and perform monthly reconciliation
General:
- Maintain charity account ledger for funds collected in cash and credit cards
- Process supplier payment rounds and ad-hoc Bacs payments
- Assist with VAT Returns, Tax, PAYE and benefit in-kind
- Perform any other ad hoc duties as instructed by the Financial Controller
Finance Officer - Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications Required:
- Proficient in MS Excel and IT for communications
- Experience in using iFinance or similar bookkeeping software is desirable
- A good standard of general education, including GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
- A recognised professional qualification in Finance
- Dynamic and proactive, able to work efficiently in a busy environment
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to understand and manage detailed information
- Self-motivated, able to manage workload with minimum supervision
