Head Chef New Opening Japanese-Inspired Restaurant Central London
This is a unique opportunity for a Head Chef or an ambitious Senior Sous Chef ready to step into a leadership role and help shape the future of a bold new concept that blends Japanese culinary influence with a modern, accessible style.
The Role:
Our client is looking for a reliable, honest, and hands-on Head Chef to take ownership of the kitchen from the pre-opening stage through to launch and day-to-day operations. You will be working closely with ownership to develop the menu, train an existing team, and ensure a consistently high level of execution and kitchen management.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and train a small kitchen team in Japanese-style preparation, mise en place, and plating
Collaborate on menu development and adapt during pre- and post-launch phases
Ensure a high standard of kitchen cleanliness, organisation, and operational efficiency
Maintain a positive, motivated kitchen culture with clear leadership
Kitchen Setup & Hours:
Team structure: Head Chef, 2 Chefs, 1 KP (45 total)
Open seven days a week, with service running from 12pm until late (last orders 1011pm)
Contracted hours: 4955 per week
Fully equipped kitchen with all suppliers in place
Salary & Benefits:
£45,000 £50,000 per annum, depending on experience
Performance-based bonus opportunity
Sponsorship available for the right candidate
Immediate start available ideally within two weeks to contribute to menu development
Official restaurant launch planned for late June
Interview Process:
First interview with the owner
Second meeting with an international business partner
Final stage: trial shift to assess skills and leadership in the kitchen
Requirements:
Extensive experience with Japanese cuisine is essential
Must be a true leader and enjoy training staff in the intricacies of Japanese cuisine
Must be flexible and willing to collaborate with the owners on their vision
