This role involves delivering GCSE and Functional Skills English to vocational learners aged 16-18, playing a crucial role in their development and progression to higher education or the workplace.

Day-to-Day of the Role of a Lecturer in English:
  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons in GCSE and Functional Skills English to a diverse group of vocational learners.
  • Utilise a variety of teaching methods to cater to different learning styles and needs.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback.
  • Participate in curriculum development and stay updated with the latest educational practices and standards.
  • Engage with students to foster a positive learning environment and encourage their academic and personal growth.
  • Commit to teaching one evening per week
Required Skills & Qualifications for the English Lecturer role:
  • A degree or equivalent in English or a related subject area is preferable. Candidates with a Level 3 qualification and at least 2 years of proven successful teaching experience in English/Literacy/ESOL/EFL are also encouraged to apply.
  • Experience in teaching/tutoring GCSE, Functional Skills English, ESOL, EFL, or literacy.
  • Ability to engage and motivate 16 to 18-year-olds from various vocational backgrounds.
  • Possession of a Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector, or willingness to undertake teacher training supported by the College.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
