The Logistics Supervisor oversees the logistics operations for our client, ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of orders. This role focuses on coordinating transportation and warehousing while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations related to the handling of orders. The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for supervising a team and maintaining smooth and compliant operations across all logistics functions, supporting and liaising with other departments (i.e. sales, warehouse, procurement).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day logistics operations, including outbound/inbound shipment process management.
- Supervise logistics staff, ensuring productivity and adherence to safety standards.
- Ensure timely delivery of orders to customers as per delivery schedules, especially for DAP, DDP, DDU, and consignment orders.
- Coordinate and manage transportation activities, both in-house and through third-party providers (e.g. freight forwarders, trucking companies).
- Monitor and report on the status of incoming and outgoing shipments to ensure orders are delivered efficiently.
- Implement best practices to optimize workflow processes and reduce downtime.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping of all incoming and outgoing orders and assist with monthly or quarterly audits.
- Conduct safety training for the logistics team to maintain compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Ensure accurate and complete documentation for hazardous materials shipping, including compliance with Dangerous Goods (DG) regulations, SDS (Safety Data Sheets), and other shipping requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of shipping manifests and shipment tracking.
- Prepare and manage reports on logistics performance, delivery metrics, and operational costs.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency of logistics and warehouse operations.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as purchasing, sales, and warehouse, to align logistics operations with broader company goals.
- Analyse and resolve logistics issues or delays and take corrective actions as necessary to maintain high customer satisfaction levels.
- Interact with customers and suppliers as required to resolve shipment issues, answer inquiries, or provide status updates.
- Coordinate special delivery requests and ensure that customers' expectations are met in terms of delivery schedules and material handling.
- Assist the Logistics Manager in expansion goals, timelines, and KPIs, ensuring alignment with the company's overall business objectives.
Qualifications, Experience and Attributes Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. (Preferred)
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management, preferably within the MRO or airfreight department within a freight forwarder.
- Certification in Dangerous Goods Handling (e.g. IATA, IMDG). (Preferred)
- Strong understanding of Dangerous Goods, global shipping, import/export customs regulations, custom tariff codes, and 3PL logistics.
- Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping, especially for compliance-related documentation.
- Ability to quickly identify issues and implement solutions.
- Leadership skills to supervise and motivate a team of logistics staff.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position, typically Monday to Friday, with potential for AOG hours working pattern.
- The role involves a mix of office-based work and time spent in the warehouse.
- Physical demands may include walking, standing, and occasional lifting of materials.
Location and Transport:
- Having a car is a must.
- Ideally within 45 mins driving distance
