Assistant Network Planning Officer needed in North London Paying  £16.86 per hr ref 012974

Full time hours on a temporary basis

  • We are looking for a highly organised and motivated Assistant Network Planning Officer to support the effective coordination and regulation of activities on the highway network. This role is essential in ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, including the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991Traffic Management Act 2004, and associated codes of practice.

    ----------------------------------------Key Responsibilities
    • Supervise and coordinate daily street works and permit applications to ensure legal compliance and high service standards.
    • Support senior staff in representing the organisation at public meetings, inquiries, and coordination forums.
    • Provide expert guidance and coaching to junior officers and technical support staff.
    • Assess and process permit and licence applications, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
    • Issue Fixed Penalty Notices and prepare technical reports for enforcement and dispute resolution.
    • Maintain accurate records in the Street Works/Permit Register and Local Street Gazetteer.
    • Deputise for senior officers as required, including traffic order management and budget monitoring.
    • Liaise with contractors, utility companies, and internal teams to coordinate works and resolve conflicts.
    • Respond to complex customer service requests and make decisions on temporary traffic orders.
    • Publish traffic orders and maintain up-to-date schedules and documentation.

    You will bring:

    • A solid understanding of street works legislation and coordination practices.
    • Experience in managing highway activities and processing permits or licences.
    • Strong communication and report-writing skills.
    • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively.
