Housing Support Worker

Location: The post will be based at EACH Harrow, but will be required to work off- site, remotely and any of EACH’s offices based on the needs of the service.
Salary: £27,300 – £30,095 per annum (inclusive of Outer London Weighting)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Duration: Permanent (subject to performance and continued funding) by L.B. of Harrow

EACH is a growing charity providing a range of specialist services to individuals and families affected by mental health, domestic violence and alcohol and substance misuse issues.

Housing Support is an approach to intensively and flexibly support the most entrenched, excluded and hard to reach clients, who traditionally have struggled to remain in settled housing. Housing Support worker offers people their own home and then gives them the intensive support needed to maintain their tenancies and move on with their lives away from the streets or hostels. 

This service is part of EACH’s wider Harrow Housing Related Support Service which also incorporates both generic and specialist support. The combined service supports promotes tenancy sustainment and prevents homelessness. 

This particular role and part of the service is particularly targeted at rough sleepers with complex needs and those who have not sustained temporary or supported accommodation in the past.

You will be responsible for:

• Co-producing support plans and implementing appropriate support to address the needs of vulnerable homeless people presenting with mental health, substance misuse, offending behaviour and the particular challenges faced by those with a history of entrenched rough sleeping. 
• Carry a client case load of 4 – 5 service users and provide face to face support in a variety of settings including their homes, the full range of community locations and EACH’s Harrow based offices. 
• Addressing issues of social isolation and exclusion; facilitating service user involvement in the community. 
• Providing key work, risk assessment and support planning for service users to enable successful, recovery focused achievement of their personal goals. 
• Closely collaborating with LB Harrow Rough Sleeping Co-ordinator and Outreach Team to facilitate referral into the service and participate joint outreach engagement.

You will need:

• Experience of outreach work amongst vulnerable people and providing housing support. 
• Experience of supporting people with alcohol and drug problems in a key working role. 
• Experience of developing and implementing support plans. 
• Experience of working with ex-offenders and people with complex needs. 
• Experience and knowledge of working within a harm reduction framework.
