Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Structural Steel Plater to join our fabrication team, working on large-scale structural steel projects. The role involves marking out, assembling, and fitting structural steel components in accordance with engineering drawings and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities

Reading and interpreting engineering and fabrication drawings

Marking out structural steel sections accurately

Assembling and fitting structural steel components (beams, columns, frames, etc.)

Tack welding components in preparation for full welding

Working with heavy steel sections using overhead cranes and lifting equipment

Ensuring work meets quality, safety, and dimensional tolerances

Maintaining a clean and safe working environment

Working independently or as part of a fabrication team to meet production targets
Requirements & Experience

Proven experience as a Plater / Fabricator within the structural steel industry

Strong ability to read and understand technical drawings

Experience with heavy structural steel (not light fabrication)

Confident in marking out and assembling complex steelwork

Basic welding/tack welding experience preferred

Understanding of health & safety procedures in a fabrication environment
Desirable Qualifications

NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plating, Fabrication, or similar

Overhead crane or slinger/signaller experience (advantageous but not essential)
Working Conditions

May involve long hours, overtime, and shift work depending on project demands
