We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Support Staff to join a highly supportive and inclusive specialist setting in Hartlepool.This provision caters for pupils with a wide range of complex needs, including autism, severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), and social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH). The school is a nurturing environment where pupils are at the heart of everything, and where no two days are ever the same.The Role:As an SEN Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils across a variety of age groups, helping them to access learning, develop life skills and reach their full potential. The role will involve close collaboration with teaching staff and other professionals, and may also include:

  • Supporting children with communication and sensory needs
  • Providing one-to-one and small group support
  • Assisting with personal care and hygiene
  • Creating a safe and positive learning environment
  • Promoting independence and confidence in pupils

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, either in an educational or care-based setting
  • A patient, empathetic and adaptable approach
  • Confidence in managing challenging behaviours
  • Willingness to support with personal care
