Job Description.

The position is based in our workshops in Goddards Green, near Burgess Hill. Technicians will be expected to work on our own fleet of rescue recovery vehicles, covering all forms of repair, inspection and servicing.

Vehicles range from cars and light vans to 44 tonne HGV Recovery vehicles and include Renault, Volvo, Iveco, Mitsubushi and Mercedes Benz.

The work is varied and challenging both in types of vehicles and types of faults that are dealt with. Quality of repair is important, as is the ability to produce work within agreed time limits.

For those wishing to attend vehicles breakdowns out of hours a service van will be provided and these will be paid on an hourly basis as below.


Remuneration
  • Basic salary £49,140 per annum - £21.00 per hour based on 45.00 hours per week.
  • (OTE up to £65,000 per annum)
  • Authorised overtime at 1.25 x standard hourly rate.
  • Hours of work Monday to Friday 08.00 to 17.30 to include 30 minutes unpaid break time but can be flexible hours between 0600 and 2000 each day
  • 28 days paid holiday per holiday year which includes 8 paid public/bank holidays.


Person Specification

  • Qualified HGV Technician
  • Proven experience in servicing, diagnosing, and repairing HGVs in a workshop environment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, including hydraulics and diagnostic systems.
  • Full UK driving licence essential; HGV Class 1 or 2 licence preferred.
  • Reliable and well-organised able to manage workloads and maintain high standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to fault-finding and repairs.
  • Strong team player with good communication skills to work effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Health & safety conscious, with a proactive attitude toward safe working practices.
  • Willingness to undertake further training and keep up to date with industry developments.
