Do you thrive in a dynamic team environment and want to contribute to the financial excellence of a leading law firm?We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Cashier to join our client's progressive Finance Team in their centrally located Hastings office—just a few minutes’ walk from transport links, shops, restaurants, and even the beach!About the RoleAs a Senior Legal Cashier, you will play a key role in ensuring the day-to-day financial operations of the firm run smoothly and in full compliance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules. You will work across both Client and Business accounts and support the Finance Manager and Senior Cashier in delivering accurate, timely, and efficient cashiering services.Key Responsibilities Your core duties will include (but are not limited to):
  • Handling daily accounts post/DX and forwarding to relevant staff
  • Downloading and reconciling daily bank statements for all accounts
  • Processing incoming/outgoing payments—CHAPS, BACS, Faster Payments
  • Allocating and posting receipts, including foreign and card payments
  • Preparing deposits, cheque requests, and printing Client/Business cheques
  • Performing Client-to-Business transfers and interest calculations
  • Ensuring the integrity of Client ledgers and preventing overdrawn balances
  • Assisting with credit control, petty cash payments, and reconciliations
  • Running and filing daily finance reports and housekeeping documentation
  • Supporting the Finance Manager and senior colleagues on ad hoc tasks
  • Responding to internal and external finance-related queries professionally
  • Maintaining compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules at all times
What We’re Looking ForEssential:
  • Minimum 2 years’ Legal Cashier experience within a law firm (Client side)
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SRA)
  • GCSE-level education or equivalent, including strong numeracy
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Confident and professional telephone manner
  • Strong organisational skills and a team-first attitude
Desirable:
  • Experience with Partner for Windows legal accounting software
