Team Leader – Mechanical Assembly

We are currently seeking a Team Leader for our Mechanical Assembly Team, reporting to the Senior Department Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of Assembly Operators, ensuring all processes are executed to the highest standards of safety, quality, and delivery.

You will need to bring resilience and a collaborative mindset; lead by example, maintaining a positive and professional attitude in all circumstances. You’ll need to be committed to building a team culture based on trust, accountability, and continuous improvement. Your approach will need to be people-first, balancing operational goals with the development and wellbeing of your team. Formal qualifictaions are not required for this role.

This is a permanent, hourly paid position. Selection will be based on relevant skills, experience, and business needs.

Typical work activities include but are not limited to;

· Lead and coordinate daily activities for a team of assembly operators to meet production schedules and output targets.

· Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, reporting issues promptly.

· Set up workstations and test facilities; gather parts, materials, and tools as required.

· Assemble and test mechanical and hydraulic components to meet customer specifications.

· Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives using the company's Lean System.

· Ensure product quality and delivery targets are achieved through clear standards and consistent oversight.

· Maintain accurate stock records through cycle counting and real-time stock tracking.

· Monitor team performance through KPIs and metrics; identify and act on areas for improvement.

· Provide visible, hands-on leadership by coaching and supporting team members on the shop floor.

What We’re Looking For

· Proven experience in a supervisory or team leader role within manufacturing or assembly.

· Practical knowledge of assembly processes and equipment.

· Strong grasp of customer satisfaction and the implications of quality and delivery performance.

· Proficient PC skills and familiarity with production tracking systems.

· Ability to work cross-functionally with engineers, quality teams, and project stakeholders to solve problems and improve processes.
