We're Hiring: Skilled Machinist - Aviation Engineering | Hayes, UK

Are you a precision-focused Machinist with hands-on experience in manual machining and grinding techniques? Join our expert team in Hayes, where your skills will directly support the manufacture and refurbishment of landing gear components for the aviation industry.



About the Role:

As a Machinist in our aviation engineering facility, you'll be responsible for producing and restoring critical landing gear components to the highest safety and quality standards. You'll work with a variety of manual and semi-automated machinery to deliver parts that keep aircraft flying safely.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate manual lathes, milling machines, and turning equipment to machine landing gear components.
  • Perform surface and cylindrical grinding to achieve precise finishes and tolerances.
  • Use horizontal and vertical boring machines for complex component machining.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools to ensure compliance with aviation standards.
  • Maintain accurate records and follow all safety, quality, and regulatory procedures.


What We're Looking For:

  • Proven experience in a machining role within aerospace, automotive, or precision engineering.
  • Strong skills in manual turning, milling, lathes, grinding (surface & cylindrical), and boring (horizontal & vertical).
  • Ability to work from technical drawings and follow detailed instructions.
  • Familiarity with aviation standards and regulatory requirements (e.g. EASA, CAA) is an advantage.
  • A proactive, safety-first attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement.


Qualifications:

  • Time-served engineering apprenticeship or equivalent vocational training.
  • Additional certifications in machining or aviation maintenance are beneficial.
