Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Salary: £44,000 £48,000 (4-on/4-off Days, 7am7pm)

We are seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team within a modern, fast-paced FMCG production facility. This site operates high-speed packaging machinery and is focused on continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Role Overview:
This is a hands-on engineering role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment, enjoys solving process-related issues, and is keen to take ownership of improvements. You'll be the 7th engineer joining an existing team of six, working a 4-on/4-off days-only shift pattern, with some flexibility expected.

Key Responsibilities of this Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer Role:

  • Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across a range of modern packaging machinery.

  • Diagnose and resolve process issues especially those affecting packaging accuracy, throughput, or equipment reliability.

  • Investigate faults such as misfeeds, jams, product misalignment, or packaging defects (e.g., twisted pallets, missing items).

  • Implement modifications and improvements to reduce downtime and boost efficiency.

  • Work closely with the team to maintain engineering standards and ensure high operational uptime.

  • Contribute to root cause analysis and offer engineering-led solutions to reduce reoccurring issues.

  • Apply a hands-on approach to machinery, focusing on technical and mechanical problem-solving.

  • Identify and deliver continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven experience in FMCG or high-volume manufacturing environments.

  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.

  • Exposure to modern packaging equipmentwith a passion for understanding and improving machinery.

  • A tinkerer mindset curious, hands-on, and solutions-driven.

  • Strong communication and team collaboration skills.

Desirable:

  • NVQ Level 3 / HNC or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.

  • Comfortable in a data-driven, solutions-focused engineering culture.
