Reed Accountancy are currently assisting an established client in the Haywards Heath area in the recruitment of an Assistant Accountant to join their dynamic and friendly team on a part time basis (4 days a week). This role is ideal for an experienced financial professional with a flair for administration, eager to contribute to our success by ensuring efficient financial operations and providing valuable financial insights.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Support the Head of Finance with daily finance tasks, financial control, reporting, processes, and governance.
- Handle invoicing and payment procedures, including raising invoices, issuing credit notes, reconciling accounts, and resolving queries.
- Submit invoices for payment promptly and ensure all payments are accurate.
- Produce weekly cash flow forecasts and commentary, identifying and rectifying any issues.
- Manage banking and credit card transactions.
- Identify, address, and/or escalate financial risks and opportunities.
- Assist in producing month-end and mid-month Management Accounts reports and associated narratives.
- Work with the Head of Finance to produce rolling monthly forecasts to provide the most up-to-date financial view of the company’s year-end position.
- Create ad-hoc financial reports as required.
- Collaborate closely with the Commercial team on quotes, new business modelling, and analysis.
- Minimise manual processes and utilise finance systems (Xero and Fathom) more effectively.
- Interpret financial information for non-financial managers.
- Enhance financial learning and development across the organisation; provide financial training for colleagues with financial accountability.
- Undertake all finance business partnering activities for specified sectors or central teams.
- Support the Head of Finance in creating and delivering the Finance Strategy and in developing the Finance function.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Ideally AAT qualified and/or active ACCA/CIMA studier or looking to study
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data management and manipulation skills.
- Proficiency in Office365, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with financial software such as Xero and Fathom.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High degree of trust and integrity due to access to sensitive and confidential financial information.
