We are delighted to be working on behalf of a market-leading retirement village provider who is seeking a dedicated Chef to join their kitchen team on a part-time basis (30 hours per week). The role follows a daytime schedule, working 8am-4pm on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.

The Chef will support the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen, playing a key role in food preparation, cooking and presentation. Working closely with the wider culinary team, the successful candidate will help ensure consistently high standards of food quality, safety and service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook meals to a high standard, following agreed recipes and portion controls
  • Take responsibility for the kitchen during the Head Chef's absence, supervising staff and coordinating daily operations
  • Ensure compliance with food hygiene, health and safety, and sanitation standards
  • Support menu planning, considering individual dietary needs and preferences
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with food cost control
  • Maintain a professional, friendly and respectful approach when interacting with residents, colleagues and visitors

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a Chef or similar kitchen role
  • An understanding of nutrition and dietary requirements, particularly within a care setting, is desirable
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Flexibility to work some weekends and occasional evenings
