Elevation Recruitment Group are working exclusively with a specialist equipment manufacturer in Derbyshire to help them recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer with a focus on CFD analysis.Our client is a successful engineering company specialising in the design and manufacture of enclosures and filtration systems for gas turbines and industrial equipment. With over 65 years of experience, the company delivers bespoke solutions that reduce noise, improve efficiency, and meet strict environmental standards for clients across the energy, industrial, and utility sectors.This role is focused on delivering high-quality Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis and mechanical design support across a diverse range of bespoke engineering projects. The Mechanical Design Analyst will contribute to the development of innovative solutions by combining technical expertise with practical design skills, working both independently and as part of a cross-functional team. The role includes interfacing with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure that designs meet technical, safety, and regulatory standards.

Salary:£50,000-£60,000Days & Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Monday - Friday 8.30-5.00pm

Holidays: 25 days plus bank holidays

Pension: 6% contribution match from employer

Location: Alfreton. Hybrid working - 1 day (Friday) 4 days in the office (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)

JOB PURPOSE
  • Analyse complex mechanical systems and products using CFD tools to ensure compliance with customer requirements, regulatory standards, and company quality/HSE procedures

  • Support the design function with simulation and analytical input throughout concept and detailed design phases

  • Provide expert advice and technical support to internal teams, customers, and suppliers

  • Drive innovation and efficiency in product development by applying engineering best practices and CFD methodology

  • Serve as a key contact for CFD-related technical queries and mentorship across engineering teams

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct CFD analyses to support the development of mechanical designs

  • Apply simulation tools to optimise performance, improve efficiency, and identify potential design issues

  • Support R&D activities and the development of new engineering concepts

  • Assist in the gathering and interpretation of technical data from site surveys or client sources

  • Use engineering software and IT tools (e.g., Excel, Word, Mathcad) effectively for analysis and reporting

  • Produce professional reports and visual outputs to communicate results and design recommendations

  • Interpret engineering drawings, standards, and specifications to inform design decisions

  • Provide updates and communicate task progress to the Engineering Manager

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment on technical deliverables

  • Support junior engineers through coaching, mentoring, and supervision

  • Represent the business in technical discussions with clients and subcontractors

  • Comply with established engineering and quality processes

  • Responsible to the Engineering Manager for the CFD integrity of all assigned projects

  • Promote high professional standards and continuous improvement in engineering practices

  • Act as a technical lead in CFD, offering guidance and support to colleagues
