The CompanyWith over a century of experience working with a range of mechanical engineering companies across the UK and overseas, my client is the go-to engineering company for complex engineering manufacturing, installations and technical solutions.

Due to continued growth and an enviable order book, they are now looking to add a Project Support Engineer to provide a link between the Engineering team and the Sales team.  This is specifically for site upgrades and new or replacement equipment installations.

The RoleThis is a fantastic opportunity to work with a range of customers across the UK, carrying out surveys on existing mechanical equipment and proposing upgrades to replace legacy equipment.

  • This is NOT a Sales role but involves discussing current and future engineering upgrades on mechanical equipment provided by my client.  This could be due to excessive wear and tear, or where plant / equipment has been superseded by new designs or improved functionality.
  • Once surveyed, your job will be to take this information and work with the project and sales teams to provide a report on suggestions for improvement, equipment, costings and timings.  This plan of action will then be presented to the end-user and be approved, ready for the project to start.
  • Typically, these upgrades will fall in the £5k to £50k bracket, and surveys typically take 1 day to 5 days to complete (most are only 1 day).  This will involve occasional stopping away, which is paid for (no need to pay and claim back).

The PersonAs you would expect, in order to be considered for this role, there’s a few things that will need to be in your background:

  • Most important is a background within mechanical engineering.  This could include maintenance, mechanical fitting, welding/fabrication, and generally an understanding of how things work.
  • Solid Mechanical engineering experience and the ability to converse with other engineers.
  • IT Literate and able to create unbiased and accurate technical reports, emails and suggestions based on the survey.
  • Good time management and ability to work your own diary.
  • Experience of working with other engineers, including within design, manufacture, quality and installation.
  • Full UK driving licence

The RewardsIn order to attract the right level of candidate, my client is offering the following

  • Car allowance or use of pool vehicle for any visits
  • 33 days’ holiday allowance (25 + 8 BH)
  • Good contributory pension
