We are seeking a reliable and organized Store Person to join our busy engineering business. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials and supplies. This is a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of operations and supporting the engineering team with essential materials and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Goods Receipt: Accurately receive and inspect incoming materials and deliveries, ensuring they meet the required quality standards.
- Inventory Management: Maintain accurate stock levels, record any discrepancies, and update the stock system regularly.
- Storage: Safely store materials in the designated areas, ensuring easy access and compliance with safety standards.
- Stock Control: Conduct regular stock checks and audits to ensure materials are appropriately accounted for.
- Order Picking: Pick and prepare materials and tools for engineering teams, ensuring all required items are available on time.
- Delivery Preparation: Assist with loading and unloading of deliveries and shipments when necessary.
- Forklift Operation: Operate a forklift truck (FLT) to move materials and supplies, if qualified. (FLT preferred, but not essential)
- Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring the safe handling and storage of materials.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure that material requirements are met efficiently.
- General Warehouse Duties: Assist in keeping the warehouse clean, organized, and safe at all times.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a stores or warehouse role (preferable within an engineering environment).
- Forklift truck (FLT) license is preferred, but not essential.
- Good understanding of stock management and inventory control systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications & Skills:
- Basic knowledge of engineering materials and components.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory software.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations and best practices in a warehouse environment.
