Hydraulic Modeller (Remote / Hybrid, UK-Based Only)



Location: Remote OR Hybrid (UK) - occasional office visits for team meetings in East Sussex and opportunity to travel to the USA (if desired by candidate) Contract Type: Permanent Experience Level: Mid to Principal (3-8 years UK experience)

Salary: 45,000 to 65,000+ (Exp dependant)

About the Company

Our client is a major American environmental engineering consultancy with a strong reputation for solving complex water, wastewater and stormwater challenges. As part of their continued growth, they are expanding into the UK market and are seeking skilled Hydraulic Modellers to join their remote UK-based team.

This is an opportunity to work directly with two of the UK's leading experts in hydraulic modelling and to collaborate closely with US offices on high-profile international projects.



The Role

This is not a standard modelling position. You will contribute to major UK and US projects, applying innovative, data-driven approaches and helping to shape the next generation of modelling through automation, artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, verify and optimise hydraulic models using InfoWorks ICM
  • Undertake model builds, validation and optioneering to support project delivery
  • Apply programming and scripting (e.g. Ruby, VBA, R, Python) to improve model efficiency and automation
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the UK and USA to deliver integrated solutions
  • Contribute to innovation in data-driven modelling and process automation

About You

We are looking for motivated Hydraulic Modellers who are eager to grow and push technical boundaries.

Requirements:

  • 3-8 years of experience in hydraulic modelling (consultancy or utility background)
  • Strong proficiency with InfoWorks ICM
  • Competence in one or more programming/scripting languages (Ruby, VBA, R, Python preferred)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Eligible to work in the UK without visa sponsorship
