They are seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join our high-performing team, supporting the delivery of a compliant monthly payroll for over 15,000 employees. Sitting within the Technical Hub, you’ll play a key role in maintaining system accuracy, leading on technical testing, ensuring timely statutory reporting, and providing expert advice to both internal and external stakeholders. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional looking to work in a large, complex organisation with a focus on continuous improvement and service excellence.Main responsibilities
  • Support the Payroll Manager in delivering a high-volume, compliant monthly payroll service for approximately 15,000 employees across multiple employers.
  • Maintain data accuracy and integrity within the SAP payroll system, ensuring compliance with GDPR and internal controls.
  • Lead on user acceptance testing and collaborate with system teams to implement configuration changes and software updates.
  • Produce and reconcile payroll reports, ensuring timely statutory submissions including P45s, P60s, RTI, pension returns, and BACS payments.
  • Provide expert payroll advice and guidance to stakeholders, support team members with complex queries, and deputise for the Payroll Manager when required.
Candidate Requirements
  • Proven experience in high-volume payroll processing within a complex organisation.
  • Strong technical understanding of payroll systems, ideally including SAP, and confidence in system testing and troubleshooting.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation, statutory reporting (e.g. RTI, P60s, pensions), and HMRC regulations.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and provide expert payroll advice to a wide range of stakeholders.
